Changing the front shock mounts on a 1998 XJ8

For these repair you are going to need:
  • First the right side:
Remove the 5 x 10 mm bolts that secure the mount to the frame, the four at the top with a ratchet or an air tool, the other one with a wrench.

  • Remove the top 17mm bolt that attaches to the shock. You can hold the shock with one tool and turn it with the wrench or impact gun is easier.

  • Take out the mount.
  • Clean the area.

  • Install the new mount onto the shock.
  • Push down and catch the 5 x 10 mm bolts onto the frame.
  • Catch the shock 17 mm bolt.
  • Tighten the 10mm bolts.
  • TIghten the 17mm bolt with a gun or by holding the shock.
  • Repeat for the other side, but on the left side you have to loosen the 3 10mm nuts for the power steering reservoir and move aside, then is the same thing.
