Changing the fuel filter on a 2002 Jaguar S-Type 3.0L V6

Here is the procedure for changing the fuel filter on a 2002 Jaguar S-Type with a 3.0L engine V6.

You'll need:
Here is the procedure:
  • Jack the car up and remove the front left wheel.
  • Remove the bottom two plastic screws-clips for the wheel liner (the rectangle on the pic) and the two nuts that are on the wheel liner (the two nuts that are closer the the back of the vehicle, circles in the pic), on is a bit below the middle of the wheel liner facing you and the other is at the top facing down.

  • Move the wheel liner to the side.

  • Put a plastic container to catch some of the gas spill.
  • Put on some goggles!
  • Remove the 8mm bolt holding the bracket that's holding the filter.

  • Remove the clips, this has to be done carefully as these clips love to break. I put a screw driver and carefully pry them out. Make sure you don't brake them because we don't have new ones.
  • Put a rag over the line and disconnect them.
  • Take the filter with the bracket out.
  • Look how dirty this guy's gas was:
  • If you want to know why and how to avoid this read this article: http://www.jaghelp.com/2012/03/chevron-shell-and-bp-vs-world.html
  • Take the filter out of the bracket.
  • Put the new filter in place, remember the filter has a direction of flow, so put it back exactly as you took it out.
  • Place the clips in the lines.
  • Put the filter-bracket assembly back in place, catch the back line, then put the bracket in position, then the front line, make sure both lines click.
  • Catch and tighten the bolt for the bracket.
  • Start the car and check for leaks.
  • If no leaks are present, put the wheel liner back in place.
  • Catch the plastic screw-clips, and the nuts.
  • Tighten.
  • Put the wheel back in place.
  • Tighten the wheel and lower the car and re-tighten those nuts.
  • All set!

  1. Is the filter in the same place (left front wheel well) on a 2003 S Type?
