P0444 and P0445 in your Jaguar x-type

P0444 and P0445 in your Jaguar X-type are caused when the computer sees a problem with the canister purge valve circuit. This is simple to check. First unplug the connector to the canister purge valve, then hook up a voltmeter and turn the key on. If the reading is 12 volts then your most likely cause is a canister purge valve. Then measure the resistance of the purge valve with the voltmeter. The resistance should be about 32 Ohms. If it's not, then you need a purge valve. If it is, you could still need a purge valve and should replace it just in case if it hasn't been replaced before.
